Do not I repeat do not go to this hospital for any prenatal care or childcare. The nursing staff is downright horrible on. And honestly, half of the nurses should be terminated because of their attitude and their actions towards their patients that’s not including the physicians too back in 2018. My doctor was nowhere near to be found when I was being induced I had an intern deliver my daughter, and it was the worst experience of my life and now it’s starting to thrive all over social media people posting videos, saying how bad this hospital is and I absolutely 100% agree something needs to be done USA women’s and children’s can be a lot better hospital if they would just show their act of love and kindness towards people and not hate and attitude I’ve seen women come out of that hospital bawling their eyes out because one nurse doesn’t like them because of their color that’s racist to me and if you’re gonna act like that towards patients, then you don’t need to be in the nursing field whatsoever or in the medical field. This should be shared with the news media asap!!!
I would advise to not deliver here unless you want to put your wife or child at risk of being killed. And no, this is not hyperbole. The "revolving door" of residents that run both L&D and the NICU are such a mixed bag that your level of care can go from "fine", to absolutely abysmal depending on who is on shift. We had the displeasure of having chief resident, Dr. Cody Roberts, as the primary attending provider for my wife's delivery, and we found him to be inattentive and arrogant. They had my wife in labor for three days before entertaining the idea of a C-section. Our child had some complications that required him to be transferred to the NICU. However, they transferred him without informing us and were sparse with updates. They are unsure how the communication failure occurred, but it does not matter because it was not the last time we encountered it. The NICU continued to be a wild west of communication failures. The nurses were extremely sweet and personable. The main issue was their communication channel with the providers. The most egregious case of this was when yet another resident, Dr. Abdulrahman Bader, initially delayed our discharge after claiming that our child had lost a significant portion of their body weight. This concern was never passed down to the nurse or us, so we were shocked to hear this new development that came out of nowhere. By this point, we were beyond frustrated and requested to speak with a manager. Upon further review by the manager, it was discovered that Dr. Bader had the weight information IN THE WRONG CHART. In reality, our child had not lost as much weight as initially believed, and we were cleared to leave. Despite this mistake, Dr. Bader did not only NOT apologize, but he double down on the weight and stated that our child should be eating more. Lastly, during my wife's recovery at high risk OB, another clueless resident came in to check her incision and replace the dressing around it as it was "protocol". With that being said, the resident had no idea how to apply the dressing as there were clear signs that it was not fully sealed. The resident never came back to correct it, nor is this documented on my wife's chart - So we have no idea who the heck botched this. My wife ended up getting a seroma / severe infection on her incision shortly after discharge, and we are now paying out of pocket for wound care over a mistake that was most likely caused by this mysterious resident. Overall, this delivery has traumatized my wife, and will continue to do so for who knows how long. USA administration has got to do better at addressing patient needs and ensuring that the residents that are on the floor handling patients are PROPERLY TRAINED. I know for a fact that we are not the first patient to complain about some of the providers named here, and yet here they still are, further perpetuating their terrible care.
I read many bad reviews and was a little worried but most of the bad reviews are on the ER. I had in patient surgery. There was nothing bad about my visit, all the staff were really nice and the doctors were eager to answer all my questions about the procedure. The sweet pre op assistant even came by to see me when I was in recovery and that made me really happy.
Found out I was pregnant last week. Got an ultrasound at the Women's Resource Center. They couldn't find a heartbeat. They sent me home, told me to expect a miscarriage, and to go to the ER if there was pain. The next day there was pain. At this ER they gave me medicine, sent me home, and told me what to expect. While taking a shower to help with the pain, there was my baby. We don't have money for a cremation. We don't have land to bury her. After some research I learned that some hospitals will take passed tissue and cremate with with other lost babies. I know we wouldn't get back ashes, but we were looking forward to this child, we already loved them so much. We wanted her to have some dignity in her death at the very least. A doctor answered the phone, and with the most condescending told informed me that the hospital didn't do that service unless I was their patient. I tried to tell her I understand it wasn't a service, I wasn't asking for them to cremate and return anything, that I just wanted my child to have some dignity, and that I was a patient through their er. She, however, cut me off multiple times, using the same rude tone, informing me how I needed follow up care (I am aware of this. This had nothing to do with what I needed resolved or looked into). When she allowed me to get a word in I pointed that out, and she informed me that the hospital had no policy for it. I wanted to ask who was in charge of policies. If there is no policy but I was having this issue, I'm sure other women have as well, so maybe a policy should be established. I never got to because she cut me off and raised her voice to speak over me many times. Finally, I sat quietly until she was done and pointed out how very messed up both her attitude and refusal to find out anything at all were. I was very calm and polite during this, however, once I asked for her to repeat her name she felt it was appropriate to hang up on me. Are you serious? That's the level of care offered? Supposed to be one of the best labor and delivery hospitals in the United States and there's 1.) No policy around those patients that go through this at home, and 2.) That's the caliber of doctor you have? I hope those phone calls are recorded. I'll be following up on Monday with Miss Dunkin and Miss Nixon, as well as filing a complaint with HR. I've never been treated so horridly by someone who is supposed to care. Absolutely sickening behavior and attitude.
I had a very positive welcoming experience from the receptions at the front desk all the way to our nurses and other Medical staff. Greeted with a smile and friendliness as I walked and this morning to visit my grandson Liam. His nurse Christina was very helpful and pleasant and kind and gentle. The ladies and the cafeteria were very kind and pleasant as was the young lady and the gift shop. The facility looked exceptionally clean for hospital and the children's area was just absolutely beautiful and creatively decorated and colorful. Thank you so much USA Women's and Children Mobile Alabama. Rose
